What is MiraMar?
MiraMar is an island like destination in Mexico owned and operated by husband and wife team Kendra and Fernando Garcia. Newbies beware – there’s nothing mainstream about MiraMar or the quaint little village of Yelapa. This secluded getaway is perfect for adventure travelers. It’s a rustic and charming step back in time. There are no cars, and most of the village still operates as it did decades ago. In fact, you can only get here by boat. The area is famous for its beach and waterfall, and the food is just as authentic and amazing as the town itself. MiraMar is not a resort; it’s 100% authentic Mexico and totally mom and pop style. The families that founded the community still live here, so you’ll get to see the same friendly faces each time you visit.
What is there to do in Yelapa?

How did MiraMar come to be?
Fernando and Kendra Garcia met in San Jose, California. She grew up on a farm in Kansas and Fernando was born in a palapa (grass thatched hut) on the ground where MiraMar is now. His family rented the hut out to travelers for over 30 years before the Fernando and his bride started construction in 2007. The pair built upon some of the foundation Fernando’s father laid and preserved the stairs down from the main path that he built. The rest is the product of Fernando’s vision and the couple’s hard work together. They started out hosting excursions early on, as Fernando’s passion is being out on the water. Kendra is a professional event planner. The location is gorgeous, so events were a natural progression for the business. “Once people come here for their first visit, they want to return to host their weddings, birthday bashes and anniversary parties on our rooftop patio,” Kendra says. “We LOVE living here and we work hard to make each visit unique and special for every guest.”
What does Graphic Imprints do for MiraMar?
Kendra and Fernando raised the bar by outfitting boat captains and other MiraMar staff with t-shirts designed and printed by Graphic Imprints. Now it’s easier than ever for visitors and residents to identify the MiraMar team. The shirts look great and the wick-away material is perfect for the weather and the work.
